As major followers and lovers of blues music, John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd debuted their newly created characters “Joliet” Jake Blues (Belushi) and Elwood Blues (Aykroyd) on Saturday Night Live in 1978. The Blues Brothers soundtrack followed the release of the 1980 cult classic film starring Belushi and Aykryod. The album was certified platinum in seven countries, including the U.S.
