Originally released in 1995, Autopsy’s fourth and final album before splitting, Shitfun was a glorious scatological gross out and exercise in the limits of extremity. The Californian gore metal band first burst onto the scene in 1988 with almost immediate infamy. Frontman Chris Reifert was already a well-known force on the underground through his time as drummer with Florida’s death metal combo Death. After playing drums on the band’s debut album, the much acclaimed Scream Bloody Gore, Reifert moved back west and formed Autopsy. The band released the demo “Critical Madness” in 1988, and they were soon picked up by Peaceville Records.
