Despite being \u003cstrong\u003eoriginally released 13 years ago\u003c\/strong\u003e, it had recently started to prick the ears of house and Balearic connoisseurs in the UK, further cemented by inclusions in the \u003cstrong\u003eIdjut Boys\u003c\/strong\u003e epic sets. Steve heard them play it, tipped us off and it soon became a favourite at Mr Bongo HQ.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eBy pure chance when the Mr Bongo DJs joined \u003cstrong\u003eLuke Una\u003c\/strong\u003e to play at \u003cstrong\u003eLa Paloma ballroom\u003c\/strong\u003e in Barcelona a few weeks later, Luke dropped this incredible interpretation at the peak of his set. A good friend of his, Michelle from Huddersfield, had also put him onto the track and he instantly fell in love. A serendipitous coming together, 'Tu Amor' seemed like the perfect next instalment in the \u003cstrong\u003eÉ Soul Cultura\u003c\/strong\u003e discography.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe version in question was released in \u003cstrong\u003e2012 as part of a digital-only EP\u003c\/strong\u003e. It came courtesy of the Chilean DJ, producer and singer \u003cstrong\u003eMamacita \u003c\/strong\u003e(Carolina Vallejos) and producer Sebastian Roman\u003cstrong\u003e,\u003c\/strong\u003e aka\u003cstrong\u003e Persona RS.\u003c\/strong\u003e Meeting Sebastian while out partying in Santiago during a\u003cstrong\u003e boom time for electronic music in Chile\u003c\/strong\u003e, their shared passion for making house music in Spanish and their admiration for Frankie Knuckles led to the creation of this \u003cstrong\u003eraw and unique cover version.\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eRecorded on\u003cstrong\u003e lo-fi equipment,\u003c\/strong\u003e including an old Windows laptop and a borrowed \u003cstrong\u003eNeumann\u003c\/strong\u003e microphone, it nods to the DIY ethos of the \u003cstrong\u003eearly Chicago productions.\u003c\/strong\u003e The result is a\u003cstrong\u003e stripped-back, quirky cosmic take \u003c\/strong\u003eon a stone-cold classic, full of squelching synthlines and Carolina’s stunning Spanish vocals, that became a club hit on \u003cstrong\u003eChile's underground circuit\u003c\/strong\u003e. However, aside from some Latin American and US DJs picking it up, it \u003cstrong\u003enever got the international recognition it deserved.\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eFast forward to 2025, and É Soul Cultura is proud to present the glorious 'Tu Amor' on \u003cstrong\u003evinyl for the first time, \u003c\/strong\u003ebacked with a\u003cstrong\u003e new, extended, club re-edit \u003c\/strong\u003eby É Soul Cultura captain\u003cstrong\u003e Luke Una\u003c\/strong\u003e and \u003cstrong\u003eLuke Solomon (Classic Music)\u003c\/strong\u003e. On first hearing ‘Tu Amor’ Luke Una recalls, “There was a real charm to it, it was quite an unorthodox arrangement, a \u003cstrong\u003ehuge wonkiness\u003c\/strong\u003e and just sounded so DIY in a brilliant way. I was chatting to Luke (Solomon) about how much we loved it and we decided to re-edit it together.
