A.'s self-titled album from 1967 is oozing with class. It possesses that archetypal 60's bossa nova, jazz, samba sound. We’d place it up there with \u003cstrong data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003eSergio Mendes\u003c\/strong\u003e at his finest, \u003cstrong data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003eTambo Trio\u003c\/strong\u003e or \u003cstrong data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003eMilton Banana\u003c\/strong\u003e. It’s a breezy ride that touches on easy listening at times, but it holds it together with a cool swagger. Biba and Thaís Do Amaral's vocals are on point, with a relaxed delivery that compliments the tracks with the sublime beauty à la vocal groups such as \u003cstrong data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003eQuarteto Em Cy\u003c\/strong\u003e, who Biba also sang with, as well as with \u003cstrong data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003eAntonio Adolfo\u003c\/strong\u003e's \u003cstrong data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003ee A Brazuca\u003c\/strong\u003e. Also appearing on the record is bassist extraordinaire, Novelli who worked with \u003cstrong data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003eMilton Nascimento\u003c\/strong\u003e, \u003cstrong data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003eNelson Angelo E Joyce\u003c\/strong\u003e, \u003cstrong data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003eAirto\u003c\/strong\u003e, and many of the greats of Brazilian music of the time.\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003eThe album has long been a favourite with DJs and collectors over the years, with songs selected for compilations by \u003cstrong data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003eGilles Peterson\u003c\/strong\u003e and \u003cstrong data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003eNicola Conte\u003c\/strong\u003e. One of the centrepieces of the album, 'Candomblé’, has been sampled by \u003cstrong data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003eCut Chemist\u003c\/strong\u003e on his track 'Povo De Santo'. The song 'Naña' is punchy and light with dancefloor-jazz appeal. The gloriously catchy 'Vem Balançar' is a brilliant bossa shuffler.
