Based in New York and Colombia, Alfredo worked with some of the greats in Latin music including \u003cstrong\u003eEddie Palmieri, Willie Colon and Roberto Roena\u003c\/strong\u003e, alongside disco and soul icons like\u003cstrong\u003e Sylvester and Aquarian Dream.\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eHis debut album, Alfredo, is sublime and comprises two distinct halves. The A-side is a fine outing of \u003cstrong\u003eLatin dancefloor workouts\u003c\/strong\u003e, with Alfredo innovatively \u003cstrong\u003eincorporating the violin as a key element \u003c\/strong\u003eof his songwriting. Take to ‘Toca Alfredo Toca’ or ‘Charangueando’ to hear Alfredo’s violin solos placed centre stage, a\u003cstrong\u003e unique dimension to Latin music \u003c\/strong\u003ewhich he helped to pioneer at the time.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eSide two though is where things get interesting and unexpected. \u003cstrong\u003e‘Hot To Trot’ is a string-laden, Latin groover \u003c\/strong\u003ewith a heavy dose of disco-funk and bubbling Brazilian percussion. It is sheer genius and still ignites a dancefloor to this day. The track became a \u003cstrong\u003efavourite with the iconic New York DJ Larry Levan\u003c\/strong\u003e and was spun in one of the ground zero blueprints of modern clubbing, the \u003cstrong\u003eParadise Garage.\u003c\/strong\u003e This tune has been a mainstay amongst DJs ever since its release, has featured on compilations by \u003cstrong\u003eLouie Vegas, Dave Lee and Danny Krivit\u003c\/strong\u003e over the years and is a record that never leaves our bag. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eOther highlights include the cosmic, layered string, Latin jazz version of '\u003cstrong\u003eMy Favourite Things'\u003c\/strong\u003e that opens into a psychedelic percussive jam and the mesmerising ‘Que Rico Bailo Yo’.
